Electrical Engineering offers something for everyone

Lucy Naylor

Level 2 Diploma in Electrical Engineering

“Studying at college is a totally different environment from school. The type of work we get to do is really interesting. I’ve had the opportunity to try lots of different areas of electrical engineering; we’ve done everything from mechanical and household electronics, to robotics and programming.  Workshop and electronics have been my favourite bits so far. It is a real good mix of practical and theory work.

Some people might think it’s different for girls to choose electrical engineering but I think it is a really good thing to get into. It’s really exciting. Having the chance to experience so much really helps you to work out what to progress on to in the future. I’m going to complete the next year at college then move on to an apprenticeships so I can continue learning at the same time as earning.”
