Creative Directory

The Creative Directory below aims to showcase all of those creative individuals, groups and businesses that Derbyshire has to offer and we want to hear from YOU about those you discover and recommend.

We are calling for creative businesses across Derbyshire to join our campaign to highlight how crucial creative skills are for the economy, our communities and our wellbeing. The campaign, Creativity Pays, will showcase creative businesses and careers as well as connect the community to support local makers and creatives. It also aims to encourage people to develop the skills the creative industries sector in our region need for the future.

We want you to shout about the local creative businesses you love and add them to our Creativity Pays directory by using #creativederbyshire or filling out the form HERE

  • Ashgate Heritage Arts CIC (AHA) is dedicated to making arts-heritage projects come alive. It puts essential community stories relevant to today’s world in front of people.

The company opens up the importance of heritage to new and wider audiences through workshops and performances.
We ‘show’ (not ‘tell’) the importance of heritage. Visual and exciting, experiential performances make heritage – which many people consider a dry subject – come alive.

Pomegranate Youth Theatre and Gekkota Arts

  • ‘Promotes teamwork, life and social skills, creativity & confidence’. The Pomegranate Youth Theatre offers weekly drama workshops that are available to all regardless of their ethnic or social background at a low cost. The Pomegranate Youth Theatre was formed in 2002 from an external drama group consisting of 10 to 15 members. It has grown to four existing groups ages 7-30, drawn from all around the Chesterfield and outlying area. The fun workshops provide a service to teach all aspects of stagecraft with professional facilitators which promote teamwork, social skills, emotional intelligence, creativity and confidence. The young people involved choose and explore issues relevant to themselves and the area in which they live as well as subjects and events from other aspects of life through research, improvisation, devising, scripting and performing. Gekkota Arts evolved from the Pomegranate Youth Theatre. It was formed with a group of long standing Youth Theatre members who wished to continue their journey and further their skills in every aspect of stagecraft

  • S40 Local (and S41 Local) are two independent community magazines delivering into 14,500 addresses across Chesterfield. I set up the business 12 years ago (April 2009) and have been blown away by the support I’ve had from anyone who connects with the publication. I never really consider myself creative but on reflection, the design, layout, words and simply finding interesting stuff happening to write about are all part of the creative process. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved over the years, I never set out to be big but wanted to be part of the community and that’s where we’ve been successful. Our new collaboration with Defeye Creative is looking at innovative and creative ways to support our Independent Businesses through www.un-hampered.co.uk
