Course Overview

The Professional Diploma in Accounting covers higher-level accounting tasks, including drafting financial statements, managing budgets and evaluating financial performance.

This qualification is perfect if you have progressed through the foundation and advanced qualifications and you want a qualification to give you the confidence and proof that you have the skills to do the job.

It can lead to a job in finance: assistant financial accountant, payroll manager, senior finance officer, payments and billing manager.

Once you have achieved this qualification, and with proof of relevant work experience, perhaps gathered while you were training you’ll be able to apply to become a full member of AAT and use the letters MAAT after your name.

September start date times: The course runs for 1 year and 1 term finishing in December.

Entry Requirements

You will need a Level 3 AAT qualification, significant finance and accounting work experience and GCSE grade A-C/9-4 in English and maths.

Assessment Methods

  • 6 Exams including substantial written questions in all exams

Progression

Progression options include:

  • Apply for AAT professional membership and use the letters MAAT after your name
  • Progress to chartered accountancy qualifications
  • Become your own boss as an AAT Licensed Accountant
  • Progress to university with AAT giving you 160 UCAS points
  • Work overseas with the AAT internationally recognised qualification
