Course Overview

If you are dreaming of performing on tv/film or on tour, you will join thousands working in the performing arts industry in the UK. Jobs as dancers, actors and singers are available across a wide range of settings including: tv, film, regional theatres, theme parks, cruise ships, corporate sectors as well as in schools. Our HND in Performing Arts (acting) will equip you with the skills to become a freelance performer with a focus on Acting for Stage and Screen. Projects will include; camera work, screen tests, working with media students as film crew, voice over, contemporary theatre and dance and performance creation. Develop your professional practice and improve your movement, acting and voice skills while learning about creative arts research, workshop leadership and how to create exciting immersive performances.

This HND offers a solid foundation in contemporary performer training and looks to employ those skills in other areas of the industry such as the planning, delivery and evaluation of drama workshops, auditioning for work and further study and self promotion.

The Higher National Certificate (HNC) is a Level 4 qualification made up of 120 credits. It is usually studied full-time over one year, or part-time over two years. The Higher National Diploma (HND) is a Level 4 and Level 5 qualification made up of 240 credits. It is usually studied full-time over two years, or part-time over four years.

Entry Requirements

48 UCAS Points

Application procedure is through interview and audition (we require you to prepare a Contemporary age-appropriate Monologue of your choice lasting no longer than 2 minutes)

Some applicants may be asked to submit a short essay in order to assess their academic skills before joining the course.

Mature Students without the necessary entrance criteria may be accepted on an individual basis.

Progression
