Course Overview

Within commercial practice photographers need creative, technical and professional skills to create eye caching images and this course concentrates on building these key skills. Learners will develop their creative eye through practice and theory, enhancing their understanding of composition, colour, lighting and framing. To support this, learners will develop their technical knowledge in film and digital practice on both location and within the studio environment. This will help build their professional practice and leaners will produce a final high quality portfolio that aims to support their progression into further study or industry practice.

Learners will undertake four major projects over the year. Although cameras are provided leaners will need to cover the cost of basic resources (photographic memory cards, paper, portfolio, printing etc) during their studies.

Course Content

Modules on this course include: Digital photography and image editing, Black and white film, Audio and video editing relating to photographic practice, Industry photo practice within the studio and on location, Documentary practice, research and contextual awareness, A final creative project of your own choice.

Entry Requirements

Four GCSEs at grade C/4 or above , or a relevant Level 2 qualification.

Progression

Upon successful completion of the course you can progress to a variety of other Level 3 courses, higher education courses, higher apprenticeships or junior level employment opportunities.
