Course Overview

This course is intended to provide learners with a broad introduction to working in the Creative Industries sector equipping learners with underpinning knowledge and skills specific to the sector alongside a range of transferable employability skills. Learners will study a broad range of skills across the Creative Industries including drama, dance, art & design, digital design, photography, stage production, and sound.

The course is designed to support progression to further learning and ultimately to work in creative industries or other related creative industries, including apprenticeships. The Level 1 Diploma in Skills for Creative Industries is delivered over one year and will enable students to develop a portfolio of work that will support progression into a range of qualifications at Level 2 including Performing and Production Arts, Art and Design, Music and Media.

Course Content

The course is based on a series of modules which develop a wide range of creative approaches. These modules will cover a range of skills essential to learners wishing to study within both the performing and creative arts.

Entry Requirements

You will need a strong passion or interest in the Creative Industries. Aptitude will be judged at interview. Candidates who have not achieved a grade 4 at GCSE English and Maths you will study these as part of your programme.

We offer a natural progression to Level 2 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts or Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design and also offer a Level 3 Diploma in Performing and Production Arts, a Level 3 Diploma in Creative Practice: Art, Design & Communication and a Level 3 Diploma in Photography.

Career wise, the Level 1 course would place you at a good starting point for progression into industry-related apprenticeships. It could also lead to entry level positions in the following areas/roles:
