Course Overview
The HN Engineering course has been designed to enable direct progression to a full honours degree course upon successful completion. You will have the opportunity to investigate engineering management at the next level, electrical power and other level 5 units relevant to engineering.
You can opt to pursue a specialist pathway in mechanical, electrical/electronic or general engineering for the certificate and the diploma part of the qualification. The HN is split into two elements – the certificate and the diploma.
Course Content
Modules will include;
- Unit 34 – Research Project
- Unit 35 – Professional Engineering Management
- Unit 39 – Further Mathematics
- Unit 44 – Industrial Power, Electronics and Storage
- Unit 45 – Industrial Systems
- Unit 53 – Utilisation of Electrical Power
- Unit 63 – Industrial Services
Entry Requirements
You will need to have already obtained an RQF HNC engineering qualification.

Progression
Successful completion of the HNC in Engineering can lead to a wide range of roles such as Electrical engineer, Maintenance engineer. You could also choose to progress onto a degree programme with a university.
