Course Overview
Politics is all around us and informs everything we do. It's always in the news and sparks constant debate. In this exciting A level subject you will explore an in-depth foundation in both UK and USA Government and politics alongside political ideas and ideology.
As well as the fascinating course material you will be developing comparative, analysis, evaluation and critical thinking skills alongside academic writing. Students will learn to research, source and examine sources of information. This subject will prepare students well for entry into higher education in a range of courses and specialisms.
The course will include a range of guest speakers from the world of politics in the UK as well as a visit to Parliament and to The People’s History Museum to exam sufferage.
Assessment wise, the course includes ongoing formative assessment of your progress and understanding and three 2-hour exams which include short answers and written essays

Entry Requirements
You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 5 or above, including maths and English and at least one grade 6 in a written subject.
