Course Overview
This T-Level course is for students who wish to pursue a career in adult nursing. T-Levels have been introduced gradually over the last 3 years in England as a route into a wide number of health related careers. As this is a new course the content is aligned with the skills and knowledge required to work in adult nursing right now and in the future. Students will be able to utilise specialist equipment in bespoke classrooms and take part in classes where they will learn about a wide range of important factors to prepare them for transition to industry. Industry Work Placements play a vital part of the T-Level programme and students will spend over 315 hours with 1 or 2 employers over the 2 years. The knowledge and skills taught and developed in the classroom can be refined during this time and designated industry professionals will support students to progress and become competent. Upon completion of this qualification students will have threshold competency meaning that they will be ready to enter the workforce but will require further training once they have done so. As this T-Level qualification is the equivalent to 3 A-Levels and carries the same amount of UCAS points as these, progress onto a related university course is a possibility.Course Content
• These Level 3 technical qualifications provide learners with the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress into skilled employment or higher-level technical training or study in the health and science sector. • Students will complete a minimum of 315 hours of work experience over 2 years in relevant settings (typically a hospital ward or similar setting) that support the learning and development of skills directly related to Adult Nursing.
Core components that will be studied within this T-Level are: – Working within the health and science sector – The healthcare sector – Health, safety and environmental regulations in the health and science sector – Health and safety regulations applicable in the healthcare sector – Managing information and data within the health and science sector – Managing personal information – Good scientific and clinical practice – Providing person-centred care – Health and wellbeing – Infection prevention and control in health specific settings – Safeguarding – Core and further science concepts
Occupational specialism focus: – Assist with an individual’s overall care and needs to ensure comfort and wellbeing – Assist registered health professionals with clinical or therapeutic tasks and interventions – Undertake a range of physiological measurements
Adult nursing focus: – Assist the adult nursing team with clinical skills – Support individuals to meet activities of daily living – Assist with skin integrity assessments and with the care and treatment of skin conditions
Core skills covered in this T-Level are: – Demonstrating Person-centred care skills – Communication – Team working – Reflective evaluation – Researching – Presenting
Holistic Decelopment – In addition to the above; maths, English, and digital skills will be integrated within the qualification in occupationally relevant contexts.
Entry Requirements
• GCSE English: Grade 5 • GCSE Maths: Grade 5 • GCSE Science: Grade 5 • 2 or more further GCSE’s at grade 4 or above
Assessment Methods
- • As with other T-Levels in Health and Science
- the course is assessed through completion of an employer project and 2 externally assessed exams in year 1. In year 2 students are assessed by completion of professional discussions
- practical assessments and synoptic assessments.
Progression
• T-Levels are equivalent to 3 A-Levels and so hold the same number of UCAS points. Successful completion can lead to: • Progression onto a full degree in nursing or a selection of other health-related degree courses • Progression onto a nursing degree apprenticeship. • Progression onto a nursing associate apprenticeship. • Progression into skilled work in the sector.
