Vehicle Accident Repair department shortlisted for Educator of the Year award

Congratulations to team in the Vehicle Accident Repair department! They have been shortlisted for a prestigious industry award for Educator of the Year, as part of the bodyshop magazine’s annual awards.

The industry publication announced the finalists last week. With more than 280 top-quality submissions the expert panel of judges had a difficult job to decide on the shortlist.

Industry recognition

This is the third time the team have been recognised for the role they play in developing the skills the industry needs. Not only did they win the Educator of the Year award in 2015, they were also were highly commended in 2017.

Paul Sewell, Curriculum Operations Manager for the Automotive & Body Paint department said;

“It feels fantastic to be a finalist for this huge award in my sector. Winning the award would be amazing, but the end result is not important. Being recognised for all the hard work by industry peers is what really counts for me.

Whoever nominated us must have recognised how hard we all work to make a difference to students. We have a professional, dedicated and friendly team. They go over and above to make sure each individual reaches their own personal goal; whether that is to gain employment, become a gold medal winner or just to progress from an entry level course right through to a Level 3 or apprenticeship. This is what makes my team stand out and why people from industry recognise how we are trying to bridge the emerging skills gap in automotive, body and paint.”

Good luck for the awards ceremony

Winners of the bodyshop Awards 2021 will be unveiled during a celebration on 17 December 2021.

We’re wishing the Chesterfield College team the best of luck.
