Helpings Hands – Care Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title Care Assistant, Part-Time, zero hours. £11.25 per hour. Must be a driver
Reporting to Branch Manager

 

Summary of Role
To provide personal care and support to enable our customers to live safely and securely in their own home. To be reliable and trustworthy, ensuring that only the very highest standards of support and care are provided. The requirements will vary between each customer and will be clearly identified in each individually written customer support plan.

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities
High Performing Teams:

 

·         To provide support and companionship to your customer.

·         To give and receive instructions clearly and accurately, both written and verbal.

·         To promote the health and wellbeing of the customer at all times, enabling the customer to live life to the full and in line with their personal preferences.

·         To regularly communicate with your manager any changes related to your customer’s health and wellbeing.

·         To take or accompany your customer on external outings so they can undertake activities of their choice in a safe and supportive manner i.e. shopping or visiting family.

 

Financial Performance:

 

·         To contribute to the financial performance of Helping Hands by providing a high-quality level of care and communicating with you manager any concerns from the customer or their family.

 

Service Delivery:

 

·         To effectively communicate and understand on behalf of your customer and across a variety of external parties (i.e. medical specialists, emergency services, neighbours, family members) in written, verbal and telephonic forms.

·         Be able to perform CPR and first aid if needed.

·         To perform personal care duties in line with the customer’s needs including toileting, bathing and showering.

·         Light housekeeping and cleaning, i.e. shopping, vacuuming, dusting and laundry.

·         To prepare and cook according to the customer’s tastes, nutritional needs and personal preferences.

·         To administer, document and support with medication in line with the customer’s needs and health requirements.

·         To carry out moving and handling as required using relevant equipment.

·         To accurately write and record all activity in relation to your customer.

·         To read, fully understand and follow the customer support plan.

·         To follow all company policies and procedures received at induction throughout your career with Helping Hands.

Additional duties if working with clinical customers:

 

·         Pressure care management

·         Bowel management – will involve digital stimulation and suppositories

·         Bladder management – bladder washouts, intermittent catheterisation

·         Nutritional support – using PEG

·         Higher level medication support – via PEG

·         Respiratory support – non-invasive ventilation, tracheostomy
