Travel & Tourism Case Study

Abbie Wolstenholme

Level 3 Diploma in Travel & Tourism

“I chose to study travel and tourism because I wanted to work overseas or as cabin crew, and the college course gave me a great insight into both jobs and how to work towards them.

As part of my course I was able to visit numerous tourist attractions such as Tate Modern in Liverpool and I was also given the opportunity to apply for jobs at local attraction parks which was great experience in the industry.

My tutors were really helpful throughout my time at college. They supported me through my studies and also helped me when applying for jobs at airlines.

I’ve always wanted to work as cabin crew because I wanted to travel the world and work at the same time. After being rejected by some local airlines I decided to apply to work for British Airways at Heathrow. It was a lengthy interview and reference process which was intense but so much fun! I was then offered the job first time.

The best thing about my job is exploring the world and getting paid to do it. I work with so many people from different background and cultures which makes it really fun and exciting. My favourite place has to be Los Angeles, it has an amazing vibe. I hired a Mustang and drove through Hollywood and Beverly Hills. I’ve met lots of celebrities on the flights to LAX which is always really exciting.”
