Delivered from the Construction Skills Hub which is based in the centre of a live construction site, this short course is designed to equip students with a basic range of skills across multiple trades within the construction industry. This course is perfect anyone who is not sure what they want to do within the construction industry.

Course Objectives

  • Engagement in further education.
  • Introduction to basic construction skills.
  • Health & safety awareness on a construction site.
  • Prepare for progression into further learning.

Course Structure

By attending and completing this programme students will achieve a Level 1 award in construction skills, covering the following subjects.

  • Health & Safety
  • Bricklaying
  • Groundworks
  • Carpentry and Joinery

Entry Requirements

Willingness to comply with strict health and safety rules. There is no minimum age for this programme.

Assessment methods

Practical with some written tasks.
