Richard has worked at Chesterfield College since 2014 championing the Mental Health agenda in his role in the safeguarding team. Richard brings a wealth of knowledge and experience with him. Although his early career started as an electrical and IT engineer, he retrained to follow a passion to work with people and tackle social injustice. He qualified as a Mental Health Nurse from Dundee University and then worked with young people, high risk offenders, homeless people and those with substance abuse. In 2009 he helped to develop a service model for people experiencing homelessness which won the East Midlands Cabinet Office Award for Innovation. He recently qualified as a certified tutor for two Mental Health First Aid England programmes.
