Sixth Form

In our Sixth Form centre you can choose to study A Levels from a wide range of subjects. Our courses will enable you to gain recognised qualifications and the transferable skills you’ll develop during your studies will help you to progress on to employment or secure a place at the university of your choice.

Changes to A Levels are being introduced nationally over the next three years which means that in order to gain the full A Level qualification you will need to study for two years; your AS grades will NOT contribute to your overall marks in the revised A Levels.

Your full A Level exams will then be taken at the end of your two years of study. In year one of the course students sit the stand alone AS qualification. At the Chesterfield College Sixth Form centre, you will be required to choose at least three A Level subjects to study.

  • Regular Trips - We offer regular trips and visits for you to get involved in. In recent years our students have been to London, Auschwitz, University of Oxford, Durham and the USA.
  • You must study at least three A Level subjects.
  • To study four A Level subjects you will need to achieve some As and Bs (or grades 6 and 7) in your GCSEs.
  • 80% of our A Level students progress to university; 30% of those go to a Russell Group institution.
