Former Art student Paul Cummins receives MBE

Ceramic artist Paul Cummins has been awarded an MBE in the 2015 New Year’s Honours list. The awards were made in recognition of the Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red installation at the Tower of London, which marked the centenary of the outbreak of the first world war.

The installation of 888,246 ceramic poppies attracted over five million visitors between August and November last year, with sections of the work now set to tour the UK following a campaign to keep the original installation open.

Paul studied on the post A level Foundation Course in Art and Design before successfully gaining a place at university.
