Staff and students raise money throughout November

Movember football

Staff and students have been busy raising money for charity throughout November. Tutors Ryan Bullock and Adam Godber, alongside Sports students, brought together several teams of students to take part in a Movember charity football tournament, raising £110 in total. Ryan explains, "The event was really well received by all involved and every aspect was run really professionally by the groups, it was a fantastic effort by the students!"

HR staff members Dan Pykett and Mike Quarrell ran the Nottingham half-marathon on Sunday 28th September and raised sponsorship from friends and families, through Virgin Money Giving. They both trained for approximately 6 months to prepare for the event, neither having done it before. They explain, "Most of the fundraising was done online, to encourage as many as possible to gift-aid their donations, and we used email, internet and facebook as ways of promoting our run. We also put up a poster in the Hospice. We received a great deal of support and encouragement from colleagues at Chesterfield College, and the College as a whole have pledged to raise £30,00 over the next two years to support the Hospice which is fantastic."
