Former fashion student launches promising career
Fashion Designer, James Nightingale says his course at Chesterfield College gave him the skills and experiences he needed to progress and launch his career.
“I first came to college to study the Diploma in Fashion and Clothing, I then progressed onto the Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and I’m so glad I did. Following my time at college I progressed to the London College of Fashion specialising my studies in menswear.
I’ve now launched my own menswear label, J A Nightingale, from my base in West Studios, the creative business hub based at the Chesterfield College campus.
The Foundation Diploma is great as it gives you an understanding and appreciation of a very broad spectrum of creative practices using a huge variety of media, from photography to screen printing. This gave me a wider range of skills that I can use throughout my career, such as utilising my photography skills at photo shoots. My tutors really helped me to create a great portfolio and university application which led to me getting a place at the London College of Fashion. The support was always there along with great encouragement.”
