Chesterfield College business students organise and host staff awards

Business students organise Staff awards

A team of talented business students from Chesterfield College hosted the organisation’s first staff awards ceremony last night. The event was designed to recognise the hard work and commitment of staff from across Chesterfield College.

The glittering awards ceremony was the culmination of a 3 month project which saw business students, Sophia Marland (18), Emily Hosmer (17), Amy Cross (19), Dawid Soltys (16) and Patryk Zapart (19), organise, plan and deliver the event to help the college celebrate the work people do every day which improves the lives of students and apprentices.

Students selected the 12 award categories, judged the nominations, arranged the venue, led the proceedings on the night and took over the college’s social media accounts.

Julie Richards, Principal and Chief Executive of the Chesterfield College Group said:

“I am really proud of the students who have worked so hard to make this event happen. The skills and experiences they have developed to complete the project will certainly help them with their learning and I know they will be useful to them in their future careers.

We have been overwhelmed by the enthusiasm and engagement from both staff and students for the event and for helping our organising team to make the event a success.  Whilst the Further Education sector is facing challenging times, it is important to celebrate the fantastic achievements, hard work and commitment of our staff.”

Emily Hosmer, age 17 from Chesterfield, said

“I am going on to study events management at university so this has been a brilliant way to get some relevant work experience which will be really useful as I develop my career. I think we’d all agree that we have developed additional skills like time management and working as a team as well.”
