A fresh start for Bethany
Bethany Hilton, is a level 1 beauty therapy student who has always enjoyed playing around with makeup and nails at home but says she chose to come to college because she wanted to learn how to enhance what people had already through different beauty techniques. Her dream is to become a make-up artist and is working towards the Level 3 media make-up course.
After being bullied at school, Bethany saw coming to college as a fresh start and a way to make new friends. She says college hasn’t disappointed her. She told us:
“I am definitely more confident now than I was a few months ago and I have made some great new friends. I have learnt how to do facials and manicures as well as make-up application techniques which I absolutely love doing.”
“We’ve done things I wouldn’t expect too. This lunch time the whole class are taking part in a wheelchair basketball game so that the whole class gets a new experience. I’ve never played basketball before but I am looking forward to it.”
“I would encourage anyone thinking about college to go for it. There are plenty of courses to choose from and there is help to find the one that is right for you. You’ll make new friends and you’ll become a better version of yourself too.”
