Celebrating National Apprenticeship Week
It is National Apprenticeship Week from 14-18 March 2016, with hundreds of events expected to take place across England.
The Week, which is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service, is designed to celebrate apprenticeships and traineeships and the positive impact they have on individuals, businesses and the economy.
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week 2016, Learning Unlimited, part of the Chesterfield College group will be holding a series of different events designed to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships and raise awareness about where apprenticeships can take you.
Our open evening on 14th March at our Infirmary Road campus from 4pm -7pm includes a range of special apprenticeship activities to highlight the option of learning as you earn alongside other ways to study. Students and parents can come along to learn more about the different routes into a career from Apprenticeships to A Levels.
We’re launching an exciting competition for a someone to win an apprenticeship taster with the Derbyshire Times newspaper. For more details click here.
We will be out and about in Chesterfield, Nottingham, Manchester and Derby throughout the week delivering special treats to businesses to highlight how apprentices can provide the perfect recipe for success. We’ll be putting the spotlight on certain apprenticeships where we know there is a growing skills demand.
Finally, on Friday DIY SOS star Mark Millar, former carpentry apprentice and Chesterfield College’s Worldskills UK gold medal winning apprentice Jack Chambers are helping to open our new contruction workshops by judging the ‘We built that’ competition that groups of year 8 and 9 school pupils from across Derbyshire are taking part in. They will also be sharing their apprenticeship experience with the competitiors to show them how apprenticeships can help to develop a career in construction.
We'll be sharing stories from businesses and individuals all week on our web site and across social media using #NAW2016 #thewayforward.
