What is a Student Ambassador?

A student ambassador at Chesterfield College is a volunteer who assists the marketing and engagement  teams, and other college teams, with a range of activities to highlight the great things about college.  Using your own experience of studying at college, you will help people find out more about college life.

What type of things will I be doing?

This year, working alongside the marketing team, our student ambassadors will mainly be helping us with online promotional activities such as creating engaging social media content, writing web articles and creating video content.  We are also looking for help with promotion in schools, where you will talk about the skills and knowledge you have learned and your career ambitions. We are particularly looking for students who could visit their former schools to talk to pupils about life at college or as an apprentice.

You might also get the chance to help with virtual open events, or face-to-face events where you will meet and greet visitors, conduct tours of the college and act as a representative for your course subject area.

Why should I get involved?

There are so many reasons why you should get involved and become a student ambassador. Here are just a few:

  • It looks great on your CV and UCAS application
  • You’ll gain experience working as part of a team
  • You’ll meet lots of new people
  • It can help to improve your confidence
  • You will develop key skills employers are looking for

You will also earn rewards based on the amount of hours you work and the type of tasks you undertake – the more hours you work the more rewards you’ll earn! Once you hit the target number of hours, you will be given a voucher of your choice to spend where you wish.
