Who is this course for?
This course provides an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and skills to prepare you for working in the hairdressing / barbering industry and enable you to achieve an industry recognised qualification. The course will provide learners with a good understanding of a range of hairdressing treatments and will enable the development of a range of skills which will prepare you for progression onto further study in this area or into employment. Course costs are - Exam: £90.00 / Hairdressing kit £89:00 / Salon uniform: £54.00. Vocational Training Charitable Trust (VTCT) is a specialist awarding organisation (AO). Launched in 1962, it offers vocational and technical qualifications, including apprenticeships, in a range of service sectors. It is currently the market leading AO for the Hair and Beauty sectors.
What other experience will I gain?
You will also explore other aspects of hairdressing such as exploring possible career routes within the sector, salon health & safety and team work. For learners who are between 16 and 18 years of age, in addition to your vocational programme, you will study English and maths (either functional skills or GCSE). The level of English and maths you will study is related to the GCSE grades gained whilst at school. Working in the commercial salons here at the college, you will gain valuable experience which will help to build confidence when working with clients and prepare you for progression into further studies in this area and / or employment within the hairdressing industry.
Where will this lead?
Progression may be to a Level 1 Hairdressing programme, a Level 2 Apprenticeship and / employment within the hairdressing industry.What are my career options?
