Who is this course for?

Although this includes some theory it is mainly hands on in our purpose-built workshops. You will gain the basic skills in Smart Engineering which will prepare you for further qualifications or a career in Engineering.

What other experience will I gain?

You will continue to study towards a GCSE grade C in Mathematics and English alongside Smart Engineering. The aim of this qualification is to engage young people and develop their skills in science, engineering, mathematics and technology (STEM) and prepare them for an engineering career. Learners will develop the skills required to build a working robot, produce prototypes using a 3D printer, programme a microcontroller system, wire a simple cable system, design a basic pneumatic system; they will also develop work skills to demonstrate to potential employers that they are prepared for their first days at work.

Where will this lead?

This can lead to a level 2 course in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Installation.
