Course Overview

The HN Engineering course has been designed to enable direct progression to a full honours degree course upon successful completion. You will have the opportunity to investigate 3D printing, mechatronics, Stirling engines, drone technology, robotics and advanced mathematics relevant to engineering. You can opt to pursue a specialist pathway in mechanical, electrical/electronic or general engineering for the diploma part of the qualification. The HN is split into two elements – the certificate and the diploma. The certificate can be studied over one year full-time or two years part-time. The diploma can also be studied for one year full-time and two years part-time.

Course Content

Modules will include: Managing a Professional Engineering Project, Engineering Design, Engineering Science, Engineering Maths. Plus 4 optional units such as: Electrical Principles/Mechanical Principles, Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics and PLC, CAD/CAM.

Entry Requirements

A relevant Level 3 qualification, English and maths (grade C/4 or above at GCSE or Level 2 equivalent). Mature students with relevant experience will also be considered.
