Course Overview
The Level 3 Diploma in Creative Media (Graphic Design) is a one year course, however, at the end of the year you will have the opportunity to study for an additional year to 'top up' to the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative Media (Graphic Design). The Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
This course will be split into three distinct stages with each building upon the previous stage in terms of skills acquisition, problem-solving and creative application.
Throughout each stage you are offered the chance to explore your understanding of design principles, visual and graphic language, typography and communication, traditional and digital image-making, materials and techniques, historical and contemporary influences on design and potential opportunities for progression. Summative design briefs of varying length will be set throughout each stage to support and consolidate your learning.
Course Content
Modules follow the path of:
- Stage one: Visual Language and Communication
- Stage two: Creative Problem Solving
- Stage three: Application of the Creative Process
Teaching and learning within these stages explores:
- The understanding of design principles
- Typography and communication, traditional and digital image making
- Hisorical and contemporary influences on design, and progression opportunities
Entry Requirements
Five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including maths or English Language

Progression
Upon successful completion of this course you can progress onto a number of other creative courses at college or enter employment in the industry.
