Course Overview

This is a short introductory course in to teaching and assessment and is aimed at those who would like to progress in to teaching or training. During the course you’ll develop the skills you need for a successful career, and will also be given an insight in to the different roles, responsibilities and practicalities of the education sector.

This course is designed for those who work or want to work in teaching or training in the further education sector. You will build on your current skills and open up your career choices to a broader range of opportunities.

This course can be studied part-time over 10 weeks (3.5 hours per week). You will also need to dedicate some time to self-study and research.

Course Content

Modules on this course include:

  • Understanding roles, responsibilities and relationships in education and training
  • Understanding and using inclusive teaching and learning approaches in education and training
  • Understanding assessment in education and training

Entry Requirements

You will need: GCSE English and maths at grade C/4 or above (or Level 2 equivalent), and basic IT skills.

Progression

Successful completion of this Level 3 award will provide an opportunity for you to progress into employment as a teacher or trainer. You could also continue to study the full Certificate in Education and Training or PGCE course at Chesterfield College.
