Course Overview

This Level 2 Technical Certificate in Make-up Artistry aims to provide you with a range of essential technical and practical skills and knowledge, which will equip you to seek employment or further training within the make-up Industry. These skills include carrying out services such as applying make-up and creative make-up artistry.

You are likely to choose this qualification if you want to cover all of the technical skills and knowledge needed to work as a makeup artist.

During this course you will be asked to carry out work experience that is relevant to the subject you are studying. This is with an external company and allows you to put what you will learn in the classroom into practice. It will also help you to develop a variety of different skills. Upon completion of the course and the industry placement, it can also help you to secure an apprenticeship, employment or assist you with your application for university. We recommend that you start thinking about your placement as soon as you have applied for your course and consider potential employers you may want to undertake the placement with to help you get the most out of the experience. Course Content

This qualification covers all the core skills you will need to progress to further learning and training, or to enter the world of work within the make-up industry. You will study the following mandatory content:

  • Principles of working in the make-up industry
  • Anatomy & physiology for make-up artists
  • Research, develop and showcase make-up and hair artistry designs
  • The art of applying make-up
  • Hair artistry
  • Creative make-up artistry.

Entry Requirements

3 GCSEs grade C/4 or above, to include English, as well as a keen interest in the Makeup Industry

Assessment Methods

  • A summative theory exam
  • synoptic practical asssignment

Progression

Upon successful completion of this course, this qualification will allow you to progress into employment or onto the a Level 3 Technical Diploma qualification such as: City & Guilds Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma in Media Make-up Artistry or side progress into a Hair or Beauty Therapy course at level 2.
