Level 2 GCSE Psychology (part-time, day or evening) – September 2024

Funding information: Free for First Full Level 2 for 19-23 year olds. Free Adult funding available dependant on learner circumstances otherwise course costs apply.

Course Overview

This course introduces you to the fundamentals of psychology, developing critical analysis, independent thinking, and research skills.

This is an intensive one-year programme that will help you work towards achieving a grade A–C/9-4.

Assessment will inlcude two written papers (1hr 45mins each). Paper 1: Cognition & Behaviour. Paper 2: Social Context & Behaviour.

Attendance is one morning/afternoon (3hrs) per week (day TBC). It is expected that students will dedicate a minimum of 3 additional hours outside of class time to their studies.

Part-time evening options are also available.

Course Content

Cognition & Behaviour: Memory, perception, development, research methods.

Social Context & Behaviour: Social influence; language, thought and communication; brain and neuropsychology; psychological problems.

Entry Requirements

This course is aimed at anyone who has a keen interest in the subject of psychology and may wish to progress onto a psychology-based Level 3 course or simply to add to their suite of GCSE qualifications.

If achieved in combination with other GCSE programmes, this course could help you gain entry to a Level 3 programme, e.g. the Level 3 Access to HE (Humanities; Health; Nursing & Midwifery; Policing; Education pathways), or Level 3 Health & Social Care, Level 3 Sport Science, or A Level Psychology.
