Course Overview

This is the introductory level of the AAT Accounting Qualification. It covers a range of basic accounting practices and techniques, from costing and double-entry bookkeeping to using accounting software.

It is suitable for those who are new to accounting and finance, unqualified accounting staff who want to enhance their foundation knowledge and skills, employers looking to upskill their staff and people looking to change their careers. It is a course that really suits adults who would like to return to learning and develop their working skills.

It can lead to a job in finance: accounts administrator, payroll administrator or accounts assistant.

To apply students need to apply online and then come in for an information session. AAT is also available as an Apprenticeship route – apply though Learning Unlimited. Apprentices study in class with fee paying students and take all the same exams. They work for an employer on the other 4 days a week.

September start date options: Tuesday and Thursday 9am-3pm or Mon/Thursday 6pm-8.30pm evening class.

Entry Requirements

A-C / 9-4 in English and maths at GCSE, however this may not be essential for students aged over 19 with some work experience in a finance setting.

Progression

Typical progression is onto the Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting, also available at the college.
