ESOL Skills for Life – Writing (part-time day) – January 2023

If English is not your first language and you want to improve your ability to speak, read and write English, then the ESOL courses offered at Chesterfield College are ideal for you.
Our ESOL courses aim to help you with your reading, writing, and speaking in English. We offer courses for beginners as well as courses for students with more knowledge of English.
There are both daytime and evening classes available.The course is divided into terms. You have to enrol for each term separately. You can start in either September or January. If you start in September, term 1 focusses on reading skills, term 2 on writing skills and term 3 on speaking and listening skills. If you start in January, term 1 focusses on reading skills and term 2 on writing skills. You will sit an exam at the end of each term.
Units on this course are designed to help you improve your English skills in a range of different situations and scenarios, and include:
- Daily life
- Social situations
There are no entry requirements for this course. Before enrolment, you will complete a short assessment and interview to find the correct level (Entry 1 to Level 2) for you.
- Written exams
- Oral exams
There are five levels of ESOL from Entry 1 to Level 2. You can also move onto Functional Skills English or GCSE English courses, as well as other mainstream college courses.
