Level 3 Diploma in Fashion and Clothing (Art and Design)
“When I first started at Chesterfield College I was interested in fashion but I had no idea about the career I wanted in the industry. There are so many different elements to the course which helped me to work out what I enjoyed the most. I didn’t like the manufacturing side much but I really loved the research elements, working with clients, creating mood boards and looking at trends. My tutors really helped me to think about the career options open to me and develop my skills to build a portfolio that would get me noticed. My portfolio and the encouragement of tutors has helped me to secure a place at the highly sought after Conde Nast College of Fashion and Design to study a Fashion Communications degree. In my application for the degree course I could show the range of things I was capable of doing from all of the projects we had worked on at college. I included examples of working on live projects with a local clothing manufacturer, where we had to design for their target market; reviews of exhibitions as well as designing and creating mood boards for collections. After completing my degree, I will be able to choose from a range of careers including editorial roles in fashion publishing, advertising or event management. There are so many options like becoming a stylist, a photographer or a fashion art director. I really believe studying at Chesterfield College has built my confidence and helped me to build the skills I will need for my future career.”
