Changed your mind about your course? Here’s how to switch.

Making a choice about what to do after year 11 isn’t always easy. Not everyone gets it right the first time. Staying on at school, finding an apprenticeship or studying at college gives you lots of options, some of which may be better suited to you than others. Until you have tried it you don’t always know for sure. If you are having second thoughts about the course choices you made, or you have simply changed your mind, don’t worry – there are always other options to explore.

There are lots of reasons you might want to switch your course. It could be the jump from GCSEs to A Levels doesn’t suit you, or you think studying a practical subject would be better for you. Whatever the reason, we can help. At the start of the academic year, it isn’t too late to make a switch.

Changing your course at college

For students just starting college, we offer the opportunity to switch courses throughout September and even early in October. If the course you’ve enrolled on isn’t quite what you thought it would be, or a friend is loving life on another course that sounds like it would be ideal for you, we can help you make the move.

Now is the time to switch, not ditch!  Please contact your tutor as soon as possible so we can help you change your study programme.

Sixth Form not for you?

For anyone who has chosen to stay on at school, the leap from GCSEs to A Levels can sometimes be challenging. Academic study is not suitable for everyone, and you may find that you excel with practical, hands-on learning in a different environment.

If you have started Sixth Form at school but you’re reconsidering your options, it isn’t too late to take another path. You can still apply for courses at Chesterfield College online, email admissions@chesterfield.ac.uk or call our Admissions team (01246 500500) at college for advice, guidance and to discuss your options.
