A Level Case Study

Lily Johnson

“My dream job is to work in the police as a detective. I’m really in to crime books and documentaries so it was something I was really keen to study after leaving school.

I decided to travel further to Chesterfield College than go to my local college or sixth form because of the variety of courses available here. I really wanted to study criminology but not many places offer the subject. I’m so glad I chose to study here; I love being able to be independent, school is very much guided but at college you can do things your own way. I’ve got the freedom to do my own thing but I know I’ve got the support from my tutors if I need it, which is a really nice balance to have.

I would definitely advise people to come to Chesterfield College. When I first came here I didn’t know anyone but there’s such a diverse range of people here so chances are you’ll get on with at least someone. I made three friends before classes even started!

I’m not sure what’s next for me. Once I finish my A Levels I’m going to keep my options open. I’m still undecided about going to university. I like the sound of studying a Higher Apprenticeship with the police because not only will I be working towards a university-level qualification, I’ll also be working in the police and gaining that all important experience.”
