Edexcel HNCs and HNDs
The College also works with Edexcel and delivers a broad range of Higher National Certificate (Level 4) and Diploma (Level 5) qualifications on a full-time and part-time basis. Links with local universities and other colleges have enabled the College to develop progression agreements
which allow students who successfully completed an HNC/D to apply for a ‘top-up’ BA or BSc (Hons) degree course. Please note that entry criteria may apply; for example admissions tutors may require a merit profile.

Foundation Degree
Foundation Degrees are universityvalidated qualifications at Levels 4 and 5. The courses offered by the College are either arts based (FdA) or science based (FdSc), and have been designed in partnership with employers and the relevant Sector Skills Council to deliver the skills and knowledge demanded by industry. The courses include work-based projects, placements, blocks of learning in college, online modules and personal development. Students studying for a Foundation Degree can apply to study for an Honours Degree. Those who successfully complete a Foundation
Degree may apply to undertake a ‘top-up’ BA or BSc (Hons) degree course. Please note that entry criteria may apply; for example admissions tutors may require an average grade profile above 60%.

Professional Qualifications
The College also offers professional qualifications at Level 4 and above. These are qualifications that are designed to enhance career progression in particular sectors for example accountancy or social care.

Teacher Training Qualifications
The College offers the Certificate in Education (Level 5) and the Professional Certificate in Education (Level 6) for individuals working in the Lifelong Learning Sector. These qualifications are validated by Sheffield Hallam University and are equivalent to CTTLs and DTTLs. In addition the City & Guilds Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector PTLLS qualification is offered at both Level 3 and 4, along with the Teaching, Assessment, Quality Assurance (TAQA) Awards and Certificates.

Access Courses
Adult students, aged 19 and over, may find that an Access course is the best way to gain qualifications to allow progression onto higher level courses in Further Education and as a stepping stone to University. The College offers qualifications specifically designed for adults at Levels 1 and 2 which lead onto a one year full-time Level 3 Access to Higher Education course. There are opportunities to take GCSEs in Maths, English and Science alongside adult qualifications; these subjects are sometimes amongst the entry requirements for specific university courses.
