2. I’m currently out of work, has the College got any courses that will help me?
If you're out of work, the College offers a variety of courses that can help you to gain employment. Please contact us for more information, advice and guidance.
3. I am thinking of doing a course but how do I know it's the right one?
If you want further information, advice or guidance before enrolling on a course, please contact us for free Careers Advice.
4. What can I do if you don’t offer the course I need?
If you have checked that we don't offer a course by using our Course Finder or contacting us directly, you could try other local colleges and providers. Our advisors may also be able to help. Alternatively call LearnDirect on 0800 100 900.
5. How do I apply?
It’s simple to apply for a course. You can apply on line by clicking the button to the top right or click here for more information about how to apply to Chesterfield College.
6. Will I have to pay for my course?
There have been some significant changes in the funding we receive from the Government and the way some courses are funded. There are still some courses that are free to learners but to find out more click here for Fees and Funding information. Alternatively you can talk to one of our advisors on 01246 500562.
7. What does the course fee cover?
The tuition fee covers the fee for this year of the course - it is based upon the amount of time you need to study during this year. The exam fee is the fee you have to pay in order to get your qualification from the exam board. We also show the materials fees for your course. At enrolment we can tell you what this fee includes and when you need to pay it.
8. How can I pay for my course?
Cash, cheques and most major debit/credit cards are accepted in person at the College Information Centre and Reception desk.
9. Which courses can I do for free?
This generally depends on several factors, for example your level of education achieved to date, whether you are receiving any means-tested benefits, and whether you are in employment or not. All of our adult literacy and numeracy courses are free. For further advice and guidance please contact our Information Office on 01246 500562.
10. I’m not sure where the College campuses are?
We have several campuses depending on the course. Our main campus is on Infirmary Road just a 5 minute walk from, Chesterfield town centre. We also have a campus at Clowne and our employer related and Apprenticeship courses are managed from our sister company, Learning Unlimited at Tapton House just outside Chesterfield. We also have a new, purpose built Logistics Training Centre just off the M1 at Junction 29A together with our Conferencing and Training Centre at Waterloo Court. For more details click here
11. Can I come to look around the College?
Yes, you can come into college by appointment - just call our Customer Engagement Team on 0246 500531 to arrange a convenient time. Alternatively visit us at our next Open Event at Infirmary Road on 9th November 5pm-8pm or come to see our exciting demonstrations at the B2NET Football Stadium on Wednesday 19th October 5-8pm.
