The College’s Enrichment Programme gives learners the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and expand their experience in areas both complimentary to their course and completely different.

Enrichment Programme

Activities include the annual student conference, a comprehensive sports programme, sign language, computer maintenance, cooking, Young Enterprise Award, Ambassador Training, Duke of Edinburgh Award, and driving theory test preparation.

Annual Student Conference

Each year Chesterfield College invites learners to its Student Conference. The event provides an opportunity for them to contribute to the running of the College, by identifying what works well at the College, what needs improving and what these improvements may entail.

Hundreds of students attend the event to represent their views on various aspects of College life, including Citizenship, Respect, Equality and Diversity, Health and Well-being. The conference ensures that the College has the feedback required in order to ensure policies and services are designed around the needs of its learners.

Sports Programme

With the College’s strong reputation for sport, it is only natural for us to make a wide range of activities available to all our students.

Some of these include:
• Men’s and women’s football
• Badminton
• Golf
• Netball, Basketball, Volleyball and Handball
• Break dance / street dance
• Climbing club
• Cyber coach
• Cheerleading
• Taekwondo
• Karate

Young Enterprise

Young Enterprise offers groups of learners the opportunity to set up and run their own businesses, from developing business concepts and financing structures, to product development and marketing. They get advice both from College staff and from business leaders, and learn how to interact with their customers.

College Ambassadors

College ambassadors are learners who volunteer to represent the College and provide assistance to staff and their fellow learners. They help out at open days, talking to prospective students and their parents and showing them around the College. They act as facilitators at the Student Conference, and also visit schools with the Schools Liaison team to talk to pupils about their experiences of College.

Duke of Edinburgh Award

The Award scheme gives participants the opportunity to develop personal skills, challenge themselves and discover new talents. At the same time, they will help their community, keep fit, form new friendships and make memories that will stay with them forever. Visit www.dofe.org for more information.
