Chesterfield College kicks off Arts Festival

Chesterfield College’s art and design students have kicked off the 2010 Arts Festival with energetic performances and displays on Chesterfield Market.
Chesterfield’s general public were treated to dramatic readings of Shakespeare, dance routines from the College’s ‘Flash Mob’ and even a performance of the famous New Zealand Haka! Visitors to the Marketplace were encouraged to join in and sample the performances for themselves.
In addition, the students also offered free taster activities, including:
• Screen printing
• Photography
• Indian Head Massage
• Hairdressing Demonstrations
Prints created by art students were being sold on the market stalls
The event is the first of the College Arts Festival, followed by a dramatic performance Kafk/Berkoff’s ‘The Trial’ (17 June 2pm and 4pm) at the College’s Recital Room on Infirmary Road. The festival’s climax will be the prestigious annual fashion, hair and beauty show, held at the Winding Wheel, Chesterfield on the 22-23 June, 7pm.
