On Saturday 20th March, the first open Table Tennis tournament to be held in Derbyshire is set to take place at Chesterfield College’s Clowne campus.

One of the event’s organisers, Bill Cooney, from Speedwell table tennis academy, explains, “The club was set up from a grant from sport England all abilities are welcome from beginners to international players. An open event such as this means players who have not been playing very long can take part in a properly organised tournament to give them a flavour of competition play. We’ve also been busy visiting schools in the area and giving students some coaching sessions.”
The tournament is approved by D.C.T.T.A. & E.T.T.A. and is sponsored by W.P. Cooney Ltd.

Between 9am-6pm in the main hall, the 1-star tournament will be open to anybody that wishes to enter. Normal club practice sessions take place on a Saturday morning 10am -12pm at the Clowne campus.
