Chesterfield College achieves full TQS
26th February 2010

• College also the first in the UK to receive Standard for Excellence in Creative Media
Chesterfield College has been awarded the full Training Quality Standard (TQS) and is now recognised as one of the best UK organisations in the country to deliver employer training and development solutions. The College is also one of the first organisations in the country to receive the Standard for Excellence in Creative Media.
TQS has been developed by the Learning and Skills Council and has been notoriously difficult to achieve. It recognises excellence in delivering training and development services to employers. The award follows the College’s establishment of a Business Enterprise Unit which solely concentrates on relationships with employers.
The College’s Director of Business Enterprise, Julie Richards, says, “We are extremely proud to have received the Training Quality Standard. It rewards the College’s commitment to providing relevant and exceptional quality training for local business. Chesterfield College has an established reputation for providing students with the best skills for employment and we have worked hard to adapt our training services to meet the individual needs of local employers in today’s harsh climate.
We take a bespoke approach with each customer to keep the training and advice relevant. The range of services we provide for employers are steadily increasing, both in terms of the training on offer and the geographical area we cover.”
In addition to the full TQS, Chesterfield College has also achieved the Standard for Excellence in Creative Media, replacing the Centre of Vocational Excellence award for Design Practice that its Directorate of Art and Design achieved in 2004. The College is the first in the UK to be awarded the standard, which recognises the delivery of specific training in fields of interactive media, broadcast, photo imaging and video to local employers.
