Jo Addy – Salon Owner
Former students Emma Wigham, owner of Avalon in Chesterfield, and
Chloe Farrelly who owns Heavenly Body in Sheffield, worked alongside
industry professionals Jo Addy from Time Beauty Clinic in Staveley
and Emma Pickersgill from HABIA (Hairdressing and Beauty Industry
Authority) on the judging panel for the first round of the
prestigious national beauty industry competition, which saw students
competing for the chance to take part in the world finals in Canada
later this year.
The judges were marking on professionalism, treatment and client
care, in a range of intermediate and advanced level skills including
consultation, manicure, waxing, aromatherapy, reflexology,
electrical treatments and back massage.
Winners were awarded with signed books by beauty industry veteran
Eve Taylor OBE, who runs her own successful skincare company, as
well as lecturing in College’s around the world.
The winners of each category will represent the College at the World
Skills UK Competition in April, where they will compete for a place
in the world finals.
Judge Chloe Farrelly said, “It was really good to be back at
College, and great to see the hard work and dedication the students
put into their work. The staff at College really inspired me to work
hard and achieve my ambitions and I could see that same level of
ambition in the students we were judging. Having achieved my dream
of salon management, I would like to focus on helping other students
achieve their goals through my future involvement with the College.”
Lecturer Michaela Greaves added, “This is a fabulous opportunity for
the learners to meet salon owners who were once students at the
College, and see the rewards that can come from working positively
and professionally. It’s also a celebration of hard work and
commitment from all students!” |
