Chesterfield College is
offering free weekly break dancing workshops to full-time students
as part of a national initiative aimed at getting more 16-19 year
olds involved in physical activity.
The break dancing sessions are taught by ex-Chesterfield College
student Nathan Gearing (27) who has found international success as a
professional break dancer, appearing in hit theatre show ‘Tag’ in
America, and training with world champion break dancers in Korea.
The sessions have been organised by the College’s newly appointed
Further Education Sports Co-ordinator, Mark Jones. The aim of this
new post, which was set up in partnership with the Youth Sport
Trust, is to oversee the improvement and enhancement of sport
enrichment programmes for students, making sport and fitness more
widely accessible throughout College.
Working alongside the College’s Activity Coordinator, Kerry
Robertson, Mark’s role is to train and development sports leaders,
volunteers and officials aged between 16 and 19, identifying
physical activity needs and providing exercise opportunities that
will enable all students to take part. |
