Chesterfield College: News...

Aiming High for Oxbridge
Date: 10th April 2008

Helen Etty of the Oxford FE Access Initiative came to Chesterfield College on Tuesday February 5th to talk with the A Level High Achievers group about opportunities to study at Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Helen gave details about the academic life, the assessment format at Oxford and Cambridge, entrance requirements, finance, fees, bursaries and loans. The students asked a number of questions about the application process and about the college system at Oxbridge. Helen emphasised that Oxford and Cambridge valued applications received from Chesterfield College students and was keen to encourage students to apply.

Stuart Booker, A Level Manager, thanked Helen for her presentation and Helen has promised to keep in touch. She has already supplied the students with e-mail contact to support the application process and answer any questions they may have along the way.

The next part of the process for the A Level High Achievers group will be carrying out research into courses available at Oxbridge and making preparations for the two day visit to Oxford and Cambridge in June.
