The Directorate of Business and Leisure Management hosted a Health
Education event in January, aimed at providing students with
information on health related issues. Topics included smoking,
alcohol abuse, healthy eating and drugs, with lecturers and invited
guests providing in-depth information on the health implications of
making poor lifestyle choices.
Students took part in a range of practical demonstrations and
debates, as well as watching presentations and videos. One of the
most popular activities was fruit-smoothie making, with staff and
students alike creating a range of healthy smoothie recipes.
Design a Logo Competition
Business and Leisure students continued the healthy theme with a
competition to design a ‘healthy’ logo for the College’s Quad’Rant
Restaurant. The winning entry was by BTEC Sport and Exercise
students BTEC SPEX 2B. Professional Business Programme Manager, Bill
Esmond, who chaired the judging panel, said, “The entries showed a
great deal of thought and creativity; but the winning design
reflects the emphasis on healthy, fresh and good quality food that
should be the hallmark of the restaurant.”
