Special requirements...

You may need support for a number of different reasons, ranging from special learning needs, to key skills support, to physical disabilities. You are eligible for support from your first contact with the College, at the application stage, right through to the end your course.

Hearing impairment support...
A wide range of support is available for students with hearing impairment. Individual needs are assessed at the beginning of your course, which means a package of support can be put together to enable you to follow your chosen programme. Resources on offer include note takers, lip speakers, sign language communicators, staff training regarding hearing loss, technical tutorials (subject lecturers are employed to give additional support), loan of radio hearing aids and vibrating pager fire alarms. A voice and Minicom telephone enquiry line is available for hearing impaired students, telephone 01246 500561 or 01246 500535.

Additional learning support...
This is available in a number of different forms and can be provided as part of the regular programme of study, during assessments, examinations and also for interviews, advice and guidance sessions. At application, interview or the beginning of your course you should indicate your needs so that you can be supported throughout your time at College. Services offered include Learning Support Officers, specialist tutors and support staff, extra one-to-one tutorial time, note takers, brailed literature, enlarged print, CCTV's, audio tapes, assistance with personal care, technical support, pastoral support and exam concessions*.

Students with learning difficulties and /or disabilities...
Individual programmes have been developed to meet the needs of students who have learning difficulties and/or disabilities. These programmes combine different modules which enable students to access tailor-made courses to suit their needs. Timetables are flexible; both full-time and part-time attendance is available and. where possible, students will be involved with mainstream programmes of study. There is the opportunity to gain OCN credits where applicable.
