Train To Gain is a nationwide initiative that will help your business to develop the skills and efficiency of your workforce. Chesterfield College offers a broad range of National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) which are the recognised standard for workforce development in the UK and European Union. Up to 100% funding is available under the Train To Gain initiative. Most NVQs are organised around your working hours and are carried out in the workplace ensuring that the content is practical and relevant to the job.Skills for Life
If your workforce could benefit from improved literacy and numeracy skills we can help. Training is flexible to meet your work patterns. Tuition can be delivered in the workplace, leads to national qualifications, and is free! We also offer English for speakers of other languages (ESOL), which are free for eligible learners. Funded courses may be available for digital media professionals in the East Midlands through a new initiative to promote higher level of skills within the creative industries. Up to £10,000 of funding per applicant may also be available for the purchase of capital equipment and software. Any small to medium sized enterprise, micro business or sole trader may apply for these awards, which must be match-funded. Level
2 Course
You may qualify for up to 100% funded training - Employers can access free Level 2 courses,
including NVQs and VRQs. To be eligible employees must not yet have gained a
Level 2 Qualification or equivalent.

Related Qualifications
VRQs are courses that teach learners theory and practice in a variety of
industry subjects. They are similar to NVQs because they are based on
vocational areas but are also different because VRQs do not measure your
competence to do a particular job.
Basic Skills
Basic Skills Training is for individuals or groups of employees to enable
them to improve their literacy and numeracy and therefore perform more
effectively at work.
Beyond Level
2 - Level 3 and Level 4
National
Vocational Qualifications (NVQ's) and Vocationally Related Qualifications (VRQ's)
are available at Levels 3 and 4. These levels are appropriate for those staff
who work in a supervisory or managerial capacity and have some responsibility
for systems and processes. These in-depth qualifications relate directly to job
role in the workplace and can lead to Higher National Qualifications and
Foundation Degrees.

Degree is the same level as the HND but designed to more closely meet the
needs of industry and adds value through practical project s and work
related learning.

LEVEL 2 COURSES
What can the College offer?
You may qualify for up to 100% funded training - Employers can access free Level 2 courses,
including NVQs and VRQs. To be eligible employees must not yet have gained a
Level 2 Qualification or equivalent.
In many cases NVQ Training can be carried out in the workplace, meaning that it
fits around the needs and restrictions of your company. Assessment can also
take place on-site so that members of staff are not required to leave work to
complete their training.

RELATED QUALIFICATIONS
VRQs are courses that teach learners theory and practice in a variety of
industry subjects. They are similar to NVQs because they are based on
vocational areas but are also different because VRQs do not measure your

assignments to be completed and sometime exams to be taken.
VRQs can be used to improve job prospects and gain exemptions from some
elements of NVQs, professional qualifications or related academic
education.

BASIC SKILLS
What can the College offer?
Basic Skills Training is for individuals or groups of employees to enable them to improve their literacy and numeracy and therefore perform more effectively at work.
It is highly likely that your employees will qualify for up to 100% funded training. Basic Skills training can take place in the work place at any time of the day.
Example; City and Guilds Adult Literacy or ESOL Skills for Life provide focused language support tailored to the needs of the company and occupation of the employee. Qualifications are on offer during the day Monday to Saturday and in the evenings, but they can be scheduled to fit around working patterns and other commitments.
In addition, Basic Skills can be embedded into vocational courses, for example literacy skills can be developed through studying for a basic IT qualification.

What the College can offer?
Companies who are based in Derbyshire and meet the criteria for an SME ( less than 250 employees ) may qualify for up to £1,000 towards a paying for tuition, registration and exam fees for a level 3 or 4 qualification or part of a qualification eg a module.
